New publication on Weighted Student Funding

One of the most important first steps for transforming districts is to address how a district funds its schools and makes sure resources are distributed equally. A strategy more and more districts are considering is to implement weighted student funding and often integrate this with site-based management. Our summit last spring on weighted student funding clearly illustrated that it’s not easy. But it also showed that the process promotes district conversations on equity and can give principals the freedom to make real progress towards improving instruction.
We’ve just posted the proceedings from the conference that documents many of the lessons learned and summarizes our recommendations. Please take a look. You can also look at the posters we developed for the summit that summarize 9 districts approaches to weighted student funding and provide useful charts that compare approaches.
