Carol creates a bridge between the innovative and creative work going on at ERS every day, and the funding that supports and pays for this work. Her penchant for logistics and a mild tolerance for excessive cost accounting puts her in good stead to map the intricacies of our ever-changing list of ERS activities, resulting in simple, cogent reporting (most of the time). Getting the right information, to the right person, at the right time, and in a format that supports the user’s view of their work, is the goal that underlies all the finance work here at ERS.
Carol’s executive background gives her a natural vantage point for understanding information needs from the user’s perspective. For the last 20 years she has helped organizations to stabilize and prosper during periods of change—the most recent 10 years as Principal for Clarity Consulting Partners. Prior to that she was Director of Financial Consulting Services for Third Sector New England and has held various CFO positions. Carol’s consulting specialty is as an Interim Executive Director, having led several turnarounds in that role. She has guided organizations through expansions, board renewal, management crises, and state budget cuts, working closely with stakeholders to strengthen and transform organizations from the inside out. She loves board work, and operational planning, and appreciates the creativity and ownership of ideas that comes from rigorous grant writing, which is also one of her strengths.
While Carol has been known for biking, kayaking, dancing, and adventure travels, her activities in the last several years have turned toward cooking, chauffeuring, and homework coach—you guessed it, she’s a Mom! As a family, Carol and her daughter enjoy beach time, exploring Cambodian culture, and walks in the woods. She is an active Unitarian Universalist and a regular participant at Family Week in Provincetown, MA.
