Don focuses on supporting partner districts in strategic resource use. He leads our project support of the Aspen CFO Network, funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and extends that work to build data and tools to help districts recognize strategic misalignments and make fundamental changes to their historic spending patterns. Don has worked closely with a number of urban districts including Baltimore City, Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Philadelphia, and Rochester to analyze school and district resource use and make funding and system redesign changes. Don also plays many internal roles including finance, human resources, operations, and organizational development strategy.

Prior to ERS, Don held a variety of management, marketing, and strategic planning roles in medical device companies including Smith & Nephew Endoscopy and Boston Scientific Corporation. He began his career as a management consultant for Bain & Company focusing on hospital and corporate strategy work.

Don plays ice hockey and Ultimate Frisbee, does sprint triathlons, and coaches youth soccer. He likes to get outdoors and travel with his wife of 21 years and his 9 year old daughter. Don’s family has strong teaching roots—both his wife and mother were teachers.
